The conference examined recurring "green fireball" sightings reported since December 1948 by airline pilots, AESS inspectors, and others over New Mexico and western Texas.
Green fireball with color estimated at approximately wavelength 5200 angstroms (hue green or yellow-green), appearing at full intensity instantly with no increase in light, traveling on a nearly horizontal path at elevations of 8 to 10 miles, traversing at approximately constant angular velocity, lasting approximately two seconds, breaking into bright green fragments just before end of path, producing no substantiated sound, visible at distances of up to approximately 400 miles, with horizontal
