Twining of Air Materiel Command at Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio, transmitted a letter to Headquarters Army Air Forces stating that the flying disc phenomenon "is something real and not visionary or fictitious," describing observed objects as disc-shaped, flying in formations of three to nine at speeds above 300 knots.
